The non-auditioned choir is led by James McClary, Music Teacher, with occasional musicians brought in for accompaniment. The choir meets regularly on Wednesdays between 3:15 and 4:30pm and typically has one or two after-school performances a semester. Membership to the ensemble must be renewed every semester and is open to all 4th and 5th grade students in good standing.
Before committing, students will have the option to attend ChorAllen Open Rehearsal. Open Rehearsal is a chance for students to experience some of the singing activities of a typical rehearsal as well as a chance for the director to assess student commitment. Accepted candidates will be listed outside the music room door, after which if the student wishes to commit to the program, they will return a Performance Contract and Membership Fee by their respective due dates. Interested 4th and 5th grade students should help their parents complete this contact information and permission form and turn it in to the student’s classroom teacher before attending ChorAllen Open Rehearsal.

Fall application for membership begins Thursday, August 12 and closes Wednesday, August 25.
Open Rehearsal
date is Wednesday, August 25.

After the roster has been posted, candidates and parents will complete the Performance Contract (included in registration packet) and return it by Friday, August 27 to secure their commitment. A working schedule of events is attached.

The Membership Fee for the fall semester is $30 due no later than Friday, September 3. If the full $30 all at once is difficult, $10 can be paid on the due date and the $20 remainder on Wednesday, October 6Payments are available to be made online through Online School Payments.

If the financial commitment presents a problem, please contact Mr. McClary for a scholarship application.

We ask families to contribute toward the hospitality for the members before rehearsals. This provides a well-needed energy boost to the beginning of rehearsal and sets the environment for students to socialize and enjoy themselves a bit before rehearsal. If each family signs up for two slots, hospitality should be covered to the end of the semester. To sign up to bring water or snacks, visit the link ChorAllen Fall 2021 Weekly Hospitality to sign up along with reminders of when to bring them in. Of course, you can always bring them in early and we can distribute them when needed.

If you are interested in serving as a chaperone for our field trips or volunteering to assist during rehearsals, please contact Allen Elementary's Front Office to learn how you can get registered as an approved Hamilton County Schools chaperone. Afterward, email and let him know of your intent and availability.
